Community Housing Partnership

“Community Housing Partnership (CHP) was named the first place winner in the 2007 MetLife Awards for Excellence in Affordable Housing for our work to help people overcome homelessness through supportive housing. Our unique model emphasizes community building, tenant involvement and innovation to create sustainable, healthy communities for people who have been homeless. The Rose Fellow will have a great opportunity to help us further our mission and our model as we grow.”

— Jeff Kositsky, Executive Director, Community Housing Partnership

San Francisco attracts tourists, innovators and industry leaders from around the world. At the same time, more than 7,000 San Franciscans have no place to call home. But for many of these vulnerable people, the situation is changing. Community Housing Partnership (CHP) successfully provides housing for people who have been homeless, as well as support services, training and employment opportunities that help people become involved in their communities and secure in their homes. Now CHP is in the midst of a significant phase of expansion. Three new development projects and two rehabilitation projects are in its pipeline through 2010, as well as work on the redevelopment of San Francisco’s Treasure Island. The Rose Fellow with CHP will play a significant role in enabling this expansion, helping to create lasting models of green, affordable housing, while simultaneously developing and preserving housing for the city’s citizens with the lowest incomes.

Mission

Community Housing Partnership (CHP) creates, implements and demonstrates solutions to homelessness by working in partnership with people in San Francisco who would otherwise be without a home. CHP develops and operates high quality, permanent, affordable housing, integrating optional support services, job training and community organizing. We strive to break the cycle of homelessness by strengthening community, encouraging self-determination and involving tenants in every aspect of the organization.
