A man of many talents, Daniel Adams needed to call on them all during his Rose Fellowship. “I was able to work as a designer of affordable housing units, an advocate for more equitable housing policies, a program manager within a non-profit organization, and a green building specialist. Such interdisciplinary training and practice seem essential to me, if we, as architects, hope to be in a position to make a significant and positive contribution towards the alleviation of poverty and the betterment of our shared built and natural environment.”

From all of his efforts Daniel cites helping to re-establish Asian Neighborhood Design’s community planning assistance program as his proudest accomplishment. The program provides technical planning and urban design help to neighborhood groups. Thanks to Daniel’s fellowship, the program now boasts a community planning component, along with an expanded scope of services.

A Phi Beta Kappa, Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a Master of Architecture from the University of California at Berkeley, Daniel continues to play many roles. Since completing his fellowship, Daniel has passed his architecture licensing exams and is now licensed to practice architecture in California. He collaborated with another Rose Fellow, Fernando Martí, on a housing design for the Octavia Boulevard San Francisco Prize competition, winning an Award of Merit. In addition, he co-authored The Materials Handbook: Guidelines for Sustainable, Affordable Housing. Currently, Daniel is a Project Manager with Resources for Community Development, a non-profit housing developer.
